Summary of talk
Airway management is standard practice with anaesthesia and sadly it’s easy to get into bad habits. This evening we will take a brief look at the good, bad and ugly of airway management techniques including the use of facemasks, endotracheal tubes and supra-glottic devices.
Objective
To improve your understanding and techniques of airway management, taking home some good ideas to help your patients breathe better.
Speaker
Dawn Shepherd, Dawn qualified as a vet nurse and has been in the industry for over 40 years. She has been working for Docsinnovent since the launch of v-gel in 2012 alongside human anaesthetists/airway management specialists and research/development teams. Having published a couple of papers on the subject, Dawn provides v-gel training and support to distributors and customers in over 50 countries and has established the v-gel in the syllabus to over 60 vet schools around the world. Dawn has, for the past 10 years, taught good airway management techniques to veterinary nurse colleges and universities across the UK, assisting in setting up the inclusion of the v-gel in the OSCE’s.
Following the talk, there will be pizza provided—an opportunity to unwind and connect in a supportive, social setting with other early career vets.
