About the session

Dating back to 1966, the current Veterinary Surgeons Act is woefully out of sync with the modern veterinary profession and needs urgent reform.

In this three-part webinar series, BVA President Liz Mullineaux and BVA Junior Vice President Rob Williams, alongside special guests, will take you through, step by step, why we need reform of the Veterinary Surgeons Act. This session will cover what it will mean for vet teams in practice and elsewhere, and how you can influence what legislative reform might look like ahead of a DEFRA public consultation, hopefully later this year. These webinars are aimed at vets—BVA members and non-members—but others including veterinary nurses are welcome to join.

Join us at 7pm, Wednesday 3 September for the first in the series where our speakers will be joined by special guest BVNA President Lyndsay Hughes to explore:

  • The limitations of the current legislation
  • The opportunities legislative reform presents
  • The work BVA and others have been doing in this area

The session will finish with a live Q&A, giving you the chance to put your questions directly to the speakers.
